8 year old challenged at last
Most toys, games or kits for 8 year olds don't hold my grandson's attention for more than a few minutes, but after easily doing the first few Turing Tumble puzzles he was actually stumped when he got to the more challenging ones. He's not used to spending time trying to think things out, so a great piece of kit for him and a life lesson learnt.
"Best toy ever!"
My 10 year old son is a screen addict. He also loves science. I bought this in the hope of getting him off the screen for a bit. He loves it! He enjoys the challenges in the book and has been inspired to create his own challenges too. He will now often choose to play with this rather than his xbox. I asked if he was pleased with it - he said, "It's the best toy ever!"
Does Not Disappoint
As a software engineer I have always wanted to teach my kids programming skills. As a parent, I hate when my kids are glued to a screen 24/7. When I saw the advertisement for a mechanical device that teaches programming concepts WITHOUT a video screen, I jumped on the opportunity. When my son opened it for Christmas, he did not immediately give it much attention but was quickly hooked onto it when I helped him get started. Within 24 hours he completed the first 20 tasks in the book, had made several interesting observations and had learned how to count in binary. He has continued to do over 30 of the tasks and even created his own problems with solutions.
Bought as Christmas gift
Excellent!! Got this for our visually impaired 6 and 10 year old boys. They need a little help to locate the balls if they drop them, but can play with it independently. They absolutely love it. Have played it several times since they opened it on Christmas Day. It’s so tactile and well put together. What really makes this toy is the book of puzzles to solve presented as a bit of a story with puzzles getting progressively harder and gradually introducing more and more pieces and logic concepts. As a software engineer myself I would highly highly recommend this toy for any child.
My elementary school had an event called Blacklick University. Teachers planned activities and students chose sessions to attend. Based on what I saw in the videos, i purchased 15 sets of Turing Tumbles, set set them up, worked my way through many of the challenges, then crossed my fingers that the students would like them. They were a huge hit! After a brief introduction with directions and modeling of the first challenge, I had about twenty-four 2nd-5th graders work in pairs to solve as many as they could. I was concerned that it would be too difficult for the youngest kids, but most of them did great! This will be a twice yearly event at my school, and I can’t wait to do it again. Neither can the kids! In fact, I may start an after school club for kids who can’t wait that long to play with the Turing Tumble!
I’m a computer professional and was intrigued by your product. It arrived very quickly and shortly thereafter my 5 year old grandson and I sat down to start tackling the projects. We only had time to get through the first two. Now he’s after me several times a week to get it out again to continue. Fully meets all my expectations!
Best toy ever
My son and I have hours of fun and learning with the Turing Tumble. I recommend for all logic people looking for some nerdy fun.
Turing Tumble Review
Purchased for my grandson’s 10th birthday, Turing Tumble was a big hit right away. Easy to set up and begin to play. The story and pictures gave it a comic book/manga appeal and the clues in the early levels made for quick success. He and his brother went through 5 challenges before breaking for cake! But, best of all, he has continued to play even when temporarily stuck. I hope another book is coming-
Learn to think like an engineer with no screens
We've had our Turing Tumble for a week and my kids are already way into it. It's appealing on lots of levels and also quite challenging. I love that my kids think they are playing but underneath they are learning and practicing some cool concepts. And NO SCREENS! You really can't overstate that part.
I bought this for my kids and ended up playing it completely (haven't solved the last puzzle yet) myself first. What a cool game!
